The Charlotte Hornets have acquired center Bismack Biyombo in a Saturday night three-way trade with the Orlando Magic and Chicago Bulls.

Charlotte traded recently acquired center Timofey Mozgov to the Orlando Magic for Biyombo and shooting guard Julyan Stone to the Chicago Bulls. Orlando additionally acquired point guard Jerian Grant from the Bulls.

Biyombo is no stranger to Charlotte. Known as one of Charlotte's draft busts, Biyombo was drafted 7th overall in a draft day trade by the then Charlotte Bobcats in 2011 and spent four seasons with the Bobcats/Hornets. Biyombo never averaged more than five points per game in his four seasons with Charlotte but did average almost two blocks per game.

In July 2015, Biyombo did not receive a qualifying offer from the Hornets and signed a free agent deal with the Toronto Raptors. In the 2016 playoffs, Biyombo had a solid playoff run including a Toronto record 26-rebound performance in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Orlando Magic signed Biyombo to a four year $72 million contract the following summer and Biyombo hasn't lived up to the expectations averaging just six points and one block per game.

Mozgov was officially traded for former all-star Dwight Howard on Friday. Biyombo's contract has two years left and is $1 million more than Mozgov's contract.

Stone only appeared in 23 games for the Hornets last season averaging less than a point per game. The Bulls will take on Stone's unguaranteed $1.65 million contract.

According to ESPN, the Hornets now have $120.3M in salary and are $3.4M under the tax with 14 guaranteed contracts.

Biyombo will return to Charlotte and join a loaded frontcourt once the deal is finalized.
