New Carolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has heard a lot of criticism this summer as he prepares to replace long-time franchise quarterback Cam Newton.

Replacing a former MVP quarterback is no easy task but Bridgewater has shown a lot of potential throughout his six-year career that has also been injury-riddled.

Bridgewater was a Heisman candidate as Louisville from 2011-13 and spent his first four years in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings before signing with the New York Jets briefly and later the New Orleans Saints.

Here are five plays from Bridgewater's career that should get Panthers fans excited for him being under center:

1. Bridgewater deep pass to Michael Thomas (Oct. 20, 2019 vs. Chicago Bears)

Coming in at No. 1, Bridgewater throws a dime of a pass to Thomas for 34 yards.

Bridgewater scrambled from pressure as the New Orleans Saints led Chicago in the fourth quarter and made the throw.

2. Bridgewater connects with Ginn Jr. for the touchdown (Oct. 6, 2019 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

The Saints led Tampa Bay 17-10 early in the third quarter and Bridgewater made a helluva 33-yard touchdown pass to former Panther Ted Ginn Jr.

The pass was Bridgewater's third touchdown of the day that eventually led to a Saints victory.

3. Bridgewater to Diggs touchdown (Dec. 20, 2015 vs. Chicago Bears)

Another one of Bridgewater's top plays came against the Bears, this time as a Minnesota Viking when he was a sophomore, prior to his ACL injury.

Early in the game, Bridgewater connected with Stefon Diggs for a 15-yard touchdown with pressure in his face that Diggs narrowly was able to hold in bounds.

It's the only season Bridgewater has started all 16 games.

4. Bridgewater vertical pass to Michael Thomas (Oct. 6, 2019 vs. Tampa Bay)

Another great throw from Bridgewater to Thomas last season in New Orleans.

In the same game that Bridgewater threw three touchdowns, he connected with Thomas early in the first quarter for a 34-yard gain.

Bridgewater has great offensive line protection to make the deep left vertical throw.

5. Sugar Bowl touchdown (Jan. 2, 2013)

There had to be at least one college play from Bridgewater in here.

Bridgewater and receiver DeVante Parker, who is now a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, was one of college football's best duos at Louisville.

In the 2013 Sugar Bowl, Bridgewater connected with Parker for a beautiful 15-yard touchdown en-route to a 33-23 victory over Florida.

Bridgewater won the game's MVP.
