The mother and brother of former NBA player and New York City high school star Sebastian Telfair have reportedly both died of the coronavirus.

Erica Telfair passed away on Monday, and Dan Turner, her son and Sebastian's brother, perished on March 28, according to the New York Post.

Telfair's former coach at Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, Dwayne Morton, confirmed the tragic news, the report said, while Telfair appeared to post a tribute to his mother in an Instagram Story on Monday.

In late March, Telfair's cousin and fellow former NBA player Stephon Marbury first revealed that Turner had died, and that Erica Telfair was gravely ill, in an interview published by The Undefeated.

Turner coached at Lincoln High School and ran the annual basketball tournament held on Coney Island set up by Sebastian Telfair, the Post reported.

Sebastian Telfair played 10 seasons in the NBA after being drafted directly out of high school in 2004, one of the final years before the minimum age requirement was increased.
