The debate whether or not it would be more powerful for NBA players to not play in the upcoming season -- avoiding potentially taking the attention away from the conversations regarding social justice issues -- or to use the televised events as another platform had become a major issue.

The league is evidently doing its best to make it clear playing will be the best avenue for furthering the topic.

According to Shams Charania, the NBA is going to be allowing its players to replace the name on the back of their uniforms for the upcoming season with social justice statements.

NBPA sent players initial details on the plan tonight, stating it is working with the league and Nike. NBA and the players union have been discussing various ways to allow players to express social justice issues in season restart. https://t.co/vw1RW2Z6Vj

The NBA is scheduled to resume play in Orlando starting July 30. (Click here for the Celtics' eight regular-season games prior to the postseason.)

All games will be played in the league's "bubble" at Disney's World's Wide World of Sports complex in Orlando, with the NBA having drawn up a 113-page health and safety protocol designed to keep the players safe during the current pandemic.
