The American League East has been home to some of the best defensive outfielders in all of baseball over the past decade. Red Sox centerfielder and 2018 Gold Glove Award winner Jackie Bradley Jr. being among the group.

Although he’s never won a Gold Glove, Kevin Pillar was part of that group, as well. Though, last year, he went out West after the Blue Jays traded him to the Giants.

But it looks like Pillar is heading back East. According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, the Red Sox are close to a deal with the outfielder. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported it will be a major league contract if the deal is completed.

Offensively, Pillar had a .259/.287/.432 slash line in 2019.
