The Patriots lost Tom Brady last week and now they are losing another long-time member of the team, although this one was their decision.

According to the Boston Globe's Jim McBride, the Patriots are releasing kicker Stephen Gostkowski following 14 seasons with the team. He's the franchise's all-time leading scorer.

Gostkowski, who turned 36 years old in January, needed season-ending hip surgery last year following missing four extra points in the first four games of the year.

The Patriots went through a few kickers before settling on Nick Folk. It would seem the team will be drafting a kicker in April's draft, and potentially bringing in a veteran, at least for training camp.

The move saves the team roughly $3.5 million in cap space.
