Let the Cam Newton to the Patriots discussion really begin.

While the idea of the former Panthers quarterback landing in New England prior to the NFL Draft seemed like a lukewarm notion, the fact that Bill Belichick didn't draft a quarterback and Newton seems to be running out of landing spots has resurfaced the conversation.

It's why the line at FanDuel regarding Newton signing with the Patriots immediately jumped.

Entering Sunday the Patriots were a +400 longshot to land Newton, but now sit as the favorites to reel in the QB at -190. Jarrett Stidham is still the odds-on-favorite to serve as the Patriots starter, although he has slipped from -190 to -160 with Newton going from +750 to +170.

The acquisition of Newton is a notion that Jermaine Wiggins, for one, can get on board with, as the former Patriots tight end pointed out on The Greg Hill Show.

"I’m praying every night, and I can’t believe I’m going to be saying this, I’m praying they go after Cam Newton. That’s where I am right now," Wiggins said. "The likelihood of Stidham of being good, his percentages are very low. The sample that I did over 14 years going back to 1995, trying to find the fourth-round draft picks, there have only been two of them where you go, ‘OK, those two guys I wouldn’t mind them.’ You know who those two guys are? Dak Prescott and Kirk Cousins. If Jarrett Stidham turned out to be those guys I would be like, ‘OK, I’m happy.’ ... In 14 years there have only been two."

Besides Stidham, the other quarterbacks competing to be Tom Brady's replacement will be Brian Hoyer and rookie free agents J'Mar Smith and Brian Lewerke.
