DALLAS (KRLD) - With former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett now running the offense, New York Giants will be implementing an offense that will be very familiar to Cowboys fans.
Last season under the prior regime, the Giants ranked 23rd in the NFL in total offense averaging 338.5 yards per game in the regular season, including 18th in passing offense, and 19th in rushing offense. New York also averaged 21.3 points per game, ranking them 18th in the league in that category as well.
The Cowboys, on the other hand, were one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL in 2019, ranking first in the league in total yards per game with 431.5 yards per game, second in passing at 296.9 yards per game, fifth in rushing yards with 134.6 yards per contest, and sixth in scoring with 27.1 points per game.
Though Kellem Moore held the title of offensive coordinator, Jason Garrett's fingerprints were indeed all over the offensive structure for Dallas in 2019, and while the Cowboys offense often times struggled with predictability and mistakes, Garrett's track record as an offensive mind, at least on paper, speaks for itself.
The Giants will open the 2020 season at home against the Pittsburg Steelers on September 14th.
