"It is with great sadness and support that we share the news of the passing of Jace Prescott today,'' the team said in a late-night statement. "The loss of Tad and Dak’s brother is devastating. At this incredibly difficult time, the Prescott family asks only for prayers and respect for their privacy.''
Jace is the middle brother in the Prescott family, with the Cowboys quarterback being the youngest at 26.
The Prescott brothers grew very close to one another because of their love for sports and the loss of their mother, Peggy, who died of colon cancer during Prescott's freshman year at Mississippi State.
“That was one of the things when she was on her death bed: ‘Tad, you have to make sure you three stay together,’” Tad Prescott told USA Today Sports. “I know the proud she would have to see the growth in her three boys, and not only that but the way they were able to stay together."
According to 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher, Jace was quite the athlete, becoming a four-time all-district and three-time all-Bossier Parish team member, and a two-time all-state football player at Haughton High School in Louisiana.
Jace, a 6-6, 343 pound lineman, went on to play football at Northwestern State.
