The Charlotte Hornets added some point guard depth on Sunday, adding eight-year veteran Shelvin Mack off of waivers from the Atlanta Hawks.

With backup veteran point guard Tony Parker currently injured with a back strain and missing the last few games, Mack will likely serve as an insurance guard behind All-Star point guard Kemba Walker. Rookie guard Devonte' Graham has also filled in this season for Parker.

Traded to Atlanta at the NBA's trade deadline on Feb. 7, by the Memphis Grizzlies, Mack averaged 7.9 points, 3.4 assists, 1.9 rebounds in a career-high 22.7 minutes per game, before being waived by the Hawks on Feb. 8.

Drafted 34th overall in 2011 out of Butler University, Mack has appeared in 452 career games (including 56 starts) for the Washington Wizards, Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta, Utah Jazz, Orlando Magic and the Grizzlies.

Mack holds career averages of 6.6 points, 3.1 assists and 2.0 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game over the course of his career.

Mack and Walker have some history, facing off against each other in the 2011 NCAA Championship as Walker's UConn Huskies defeated Mack's Bulldogs.
